"Abeyance" is a state of temporary disuse or suspension. I wanted to illustrate this as a temporary moment of time standing still after death. Waiting for the verdict of eternal destination. Not that I believe birds have souls, but seeing one grounded after a life of flight really symbolizes, to me, the severity of that final breath.
